Industry Cohorts

Industry Cohorts

Industry cohorts are short-term (usually 8-week) programs designed to move participants in the same direction as the full, 9-month Boston Fellows program—equipping participants to serve God and neighbor in the working world through spiritual formation, intellectual and professional development, and a community of peers.

But industry cohorts require a lower level of commitment, while also providing the opportunity to go deeper with peers working in the same professional field of service. As such, these cohorts are ideal for alumni of the full program, as well as those not able to commit to the full program at this time.

Participation in an industry cohort entails a commitment to these elements:

  • Daily personal devotional disciplines, following a common format together. (About 15+ minutes daily.)

  • Readings/assignments before the weekly meeting---about 20 pages weekly.

  • Weekly meetings around shared refreshments or a meal, discussion of reading, sharing and prayer for one another. (90 minutes/meeting)

  • A 24-hour "camp-in" retreat with the rest of the cohort some time during the course of the eight weeks. (This feature is not included in all cohorts.)

The following short-term cohorts are scheduled. Check back soon for other cohorts forthcoming.

Applications to the STEM cohort are now open for the Fall 2019 cycle!

An eight-week program, designed specifically for those working in STEM fields. Beginning with a study of Sabbath, topics may also include Sacredness of Work, Leadership Skills, Theology of Work, and Community as a Resource.

Previous participants please note: this cycle covers a set of readings not previously studied.

The cohort runs October 6 to November 24, 2019 and meets on Sunday afternoons, and a day-long action seminar on Design: Saturday, October 19.

Facilitated by Nora Bryant, Ramez Iyob, Kris Sachsenmeier, and John ZuHone.

Tuition is $100 and covers all materials and operational expenses. Apply below.

Note: the following is an application to short-term, industry-specific cohorts, NOT to the nine-month Boston Fellows program.

If you experience technical problems completing the following form, please email communications@bostonfellows.com.

To apply:

1) Answer the following short-answer questions elsewhere, then copy and paste them to this form. (The form does not allow you to save your work and return later.)

2) Fill out this brief survey.

3) Email the address of your detailed Linkedin profile, and a recent headshot of yourself if you do not have one in your profile, to communications@bostonfellows.com, subject "Applicant'sName_STEM". (Attach the photo, rather than inserting it in the body of the email.) If you do not yet have a LinkedIn profile, we recommend creating one. LinkedIn gives you a platform to express your values, skills, and experience while also connecting you to other people in your field and the other program participants. Clarifying your vision for work and meeting others involved in STEM are both important aspects of the cohort, and this tool helps.
